Violence against women is a problem of society as a whole.

Article 1 of Germany's Consitution states: “The dignity of man is inviolable."

Suffering violence violates this human right of dignity and of free development of the individual (art. 1 and 2 GG).

It's a sad fact that women and children still are not being sufficiently protected against violence. The Society of the Women's and children's Shelter want to help to protect women and their children against violence. By information and clarification of facts public focus is guided towards societal structures that bring violence forward. Thus the shelter helps initiating changes. The society of Women's and Children's Shelter does not feel their work is isolated, but should be in context with all help available for women and children.

Said Women's and Children Shelter offers on principle shelter and protection for women and their children who have suffered bodily and emotionally harm, and/or were abused sexually or are threatened with abuse. The needs of these children have the same importance as that of the women.

Basic principles of women's shelter work

Partiality
The needs, interests and the right of self-determination of women and children are at the very fore.

Anonymity
The shelters' inhabitants anonymity and that of the shelter itself will be protected.

Women
The shelter for women and children provides an opportunity to gain some emotional and physical distance from their previous environment Which is a prerequisite to be able to ponder oneself, the situation as it is as well as the future without pressure and interference. It's easier that way to decide what to do. Being in contact with other victims of similar background helps forming a mutually supportive group. This can also help break the isolation and develop an idea about the future life. The shelter leaves the women on their own authority. They have to make arrangements with the other inhabitangs and have to be able to organize their daily routine for themselves and their kids. Women with drug addiction or mental problems cannot be accepted, if this proves dangerous for themselves or others.

Children
Children living in Women's shelters were witnesses and victims to domestic violence. All children having suffered violence against themselves or their mothers need qualified, individual support. It's mandatory these children go to school. If too young, play school is strongly recommended.

More help is organized "around the clock" in these shelters.

They help in a fast, goal-oriented and unbureaucratic way. It's an initiative of citizens and commerce of the Rhein-Main region and they support mostly local endeavours. Generally speeking they are taking care of the needs and issues for chronically diseased children, as well as mentally or bodily retarded or abused children. Without them these children would hardly find a Lobby.

All children are equal. That statement is made in Article 2 of the UN-Conventions about the rights of children. The Children Trust does all to meet this stipulation.

Children Hospice Service Baden-Baden

1.000,- € were donated to the Ambulatory Children and Adolescent Hospice Service Baden-Baden

The Children and Adolescent Hospice Service Baden-Baden were happy about SAKKARA's donation in 2009, which came in form of a premature Christmas gift. They could use it in order to pay urgent bills that had arisen with regard to the commemoration of deceased children.

The Children and Adolescent Hospice Service Baden-Baden was founded in the spring of 2007, it's a subsidiary of the Hospice Service Baden-Baden that was foundet in 1991. Within this service eighteen trained compaignons of varying age and gender work together with their own coordinator.

Ambulatory Children and Adolescent Hospice work means attending children and teenagers suffering terminal diseases e.g. in their own homes and with their families. On site the Ambulatory children and Adolescent Hospice Service (KIJUD) helps by providing efficient relief and they help, that the child/teenager being terminally ill will be allowed as far as humanly possible a "life" at home and then to be able to die at home instead of a clinical institution. During this extraordinary time in the life of families the every day life should be kept running as smoothly and familiar as possible.

Kids and teenagers who lost a parent or a sibling are also being attended. It's important to be there for the children during their time of mourning, as it's important to mourn properly in order to be able to continue living and to heal from this emotional wound. It should be lived through and not be suppressed. Support is also offered to parents who had to suffer loss of a child as early as during the pregnancy.

When a child suffers a fatal illness and continues living in the family, the parants will have to offer proper care and assistance 24/7 - sometimes for months if not years. Within a family system this leads to parents reaching their end of mental and physical reserves. This why the entire family is being supported, if necessary and if so desired. It's proven once and again that individual family members have completely different needs. So a keen perception of the hospice help is very important.

KIJUD wants to support as well as provide relief - it's one of their main concerns. So it becomes together with the most important medical and palliative care another brick in the care circle of the child suffering a terminal illness. Another task field of KIJUD is bringing into contact the doctors, clinics, social Services, undertakers and Civil Service.  It's important to provide publicity and awareness training in order to sensibilize society to the fact, that death is a part of life. Even our Anti-Aging-Society cannot avoid the death of children and teenagers. Thus discussions, seminaires and cooperations with schools and play schools with topics like "death, dying, mourning" and such that help the removal of taboos pertaining to death and dying should be more prominent.

„Call us and we'll come“, as it's the families themselves who chose the time and duration of the Hospice Service. It's free of charge. Which is one of the reasons the hospice work needs donations. Because what the compaignons offer is something that can't be paid with money or gold:

„Time“ in a time, where "time" is the most precious good on earh.

Customers of the Food bank are people needing welfare or living at poerty level.

The Baden-Baden Food Bank is member of the federal and national association for food banks as well as members of a network of food banks in the rhine valley, trying to optimize collection and distribution of donated goods.

Many have been infected by the general idea of the food bank - small and large companies help these food banks with donations and many people who dedicate themselves on a daily basis.
