SAKKARA - more space under the roof

Landmark for 6 months - a crane against blue sky

Since September 2009 a crane was the new landmark rising over the premesis of SAKKARA's bellydance boutique. Roof tiles are hurtling through the air, there's always the sound of hammering and time and again material is being transported upwards. Inspite of subprime crisis, bank failures, danger of  monetary inflation and inspite of all talk of crisis SAKKARA GmbH continues to place the bets on growth. Planned for a longtime - and now finally realized - the enlargement of the roof level. Our payoff: additional 550 m².

Demolition and restart

The roof tiles have been removed

Usually one has to give up something in order to create something new. Tons of old roof tiles were discarded, being hurtled through the air and landed with a big cloud of dust in the dumbster. It wasn't easy to continue giving good and reasonable advice to our customers on the phone during that hubbub. Once the tiles were removed, all other superstructures and laminations were also removed professionally and disposed of.

Our sole anxiety - please Lord - no rain!

The roof is being protected with an awning against rain.
The chimney is at the wrong place and has to be taken down.
Let there be light - Roof opening for a window.
220 mm insulation for best performance.
Part of the roof already insulated.
Half of the roof has new tiles - but winter is approaching.
3 1/2 months - were were lucky, only 4 days of rain.
Red sunrise warning of the arrival of the first snow.
Just in time for the first snow the roof got finished.
Surprise included: Big excitement when finding a grenade during remodelling.
...but some beams also were reason for concern! Time has left some marks!
More than 500 m of water and heating lines were installed...
... and more than 3600 m cable for power and the computer system!
Let's hope somebody remembers what these lines all are meant for!
The new floor has been installed! At sunrise the result of our hard work can be seen!
